Original Box Contents
I have a circa 1955 Pre Model 27 with original Gold/Blue box. There were no contents in the box, other that the gun itself. I would like to acquire the contents that would have been included in the original factory shipment. Looking for information on what that would include, Such as, Manual, Bore brush, etc.

Here's my list: Nox Rust paper, Helpful Hints brochure, black knurled SAT, brush, mop, and cleaning rod. Not sure about a warranty card but I believe so.

I have a circa 1958 , 5 screw, 5 inch bbl., with the gold box. I am also missing cleaning tools and SAT. I do have half of the registration card to activate the warranty.

I don't agree with the black knurled SAT. By 1955 they were transitioning to the knurled aluminum tool. For examples of that, read any of the threads on the early 44 Magnums. Conventional wisdom is they all shipped with aluminum screwdrivers. Granted, those were 1956 shipments, but some of the serials overlap with earlier ones.

I think the SAT could be of either style. I have seen several early pre-m25's that had the black SAT but it may depend on when in 1955 it was shipped. By 1956 they have made the change to the aluminum but you can find early P29's with black SATs that MAY be original. But who can really say for sure?

Please disregard if you know this already; brush and mop of that vintage had brass threded ends, not aluminum.
My 1955 shipped 1950 44 target came from it's original owner with original receipt and black SAT. He had no other Smiths to mix tools up with.
