Default To be passed on

Don't know a whole lot about this 32, It belongs to my father-in-law who received it from his father who carried it as a sheriff in San Miguel county New Mexico during the 1960s, It will probably be left to my son which I think is pretty cool, so I hope, things happen , If I can get a little info on this model gun It would be much appreciated.

Please post a pic of the other side as well as a close up of the barrel markings. The serial number on the butt of the gun would help in providing a date of manufacture.

Is the caliber 32 S&W, 32 Long, 32-20? Without more information, like caliber and serial number, it will be difficult to help you out. I will say that the revolver pictured is probably 100 years old or more.

This is a .32/20 (aka .32 Winchester, as the barrel stamping states on earlier guns) Military & Police. If you can give the serial number from the bottom of the grip frame, like 123xxx, we can give you an idea when it was shipped.

Well, we know at least that it goes back to sometime prior to 1914. That's when they stopped putting 32 Winchester CTG on the barrel. From 1914-1922, it said, 32 W.C.F.
Too bad the original stocks are gone.

Thank you guys for all the info it helps a lot, when and if my son ever receives the gun I will probably due a more intense serial number check , I do know that a firearm was not provided to public service personal in that county for that time period so it will kind of fun to find out its history.

thanks again

Steven - that serial number puts the shipment date at 1912 - 1913, so about 100 years old. I have a 6" 32-20 with sn 41XXX and shoot it quite often. 32-20 is a great shooting caliber, but if you do not reload, it is very expensive ($40 for 50) to shoot. Also, this caliber will run at 900-1000 fps and are very accurate.

Thank you for that info, cylinder was tight and timing looked real good so probably will put a few rounds thru it.
