.38 M&P Snub Nose Letter
I posted this gun (C1880xx) in November and was angling for some date information. David Wilson called it pretty well with 1951. My letter arrived today with a ship date for the gun of July 6, 1951. I was a little suprised that the gun has remained in the same area that I bought it for 61 years, being shipped to the Sharp Horsey Hardware Co. here in Atlanta.
A really nice 5 screw Pre-10. Also note that letters from Mr. Jinks are coming in after about seven weeks. Pretty good, I'd say.

That's a pretty little rascal--great condition.
Neat that it stayed close to home. Remember Beck and Greg hardware?

That's a nice specimen, and I'm glad you got it lettered.
There is just no rhyme or reason to where a gun ends up after it is sold. I have lettered a few guns that were shipped to Southern California and stayed here, but others went on long rides to get to this part of the country. I remember in particular one that I bought out of North Carolina, but the gun had shipped originally to Washington State in the 1930s and seems to have made a short stay in New York before it went south. A couple of other guns that came to me from New York hadn't moved more than 50 miles from their point of sale in over 70 years. There is probably an interesting survey to be conducted on the lives and travels of S&Ws manufactured over 50 years ago.

Nice example of a '51 S&W - including that sharp shoulder on the magnas. Thanks for the post, and I hope you enjoy that snubby.
