Good or quick? You need to pick one. You cannot have both.
I suggest Smith&Wesson for the job. That would be good, but not quick. Quick would be Belgian Blue, from Brownells.

I don't think S&W will reblue a pre model 27. They do a different blueing now. As I recall, they will not go beyond a certain age of revolver. I would sent it to Ford's.

Since the blue is already gone, and it is intended as a carry gun, I would have it hard chromed. Metalife maybe. I have not kept up with who does this, now but it is a good durable, easy to clean finish. There are several threads here that talk about it. I have a well worn pre 27 that I have been considering having hard chromed.

From what I've heard , they will not work on any pre-model numbered revolvers.
And yes , those pre-war guns were done by hand and skill , using the slow-rust blue method.
Just like Mr. Chicoine does.

Donnie,
As with any re-finish, it should meet the user's needs.
For a working revolver, I'd like this;
PLATED FINISH: BLACK CHROME PLATING
"Black Chrome is the second hardest black finish available for firearms and the hardest finish available at a reasonable price.....
It has much greater wear resistance than any form of Bluing (Black Oxide)"
Thinking on my RM a semi-bright nickel ................

Richard Turnbull, they do beautifull work, and really, there are far to many ugly black/green/camo firearms in the world, Uncle Doug would agree, why do you think they checkered the top strap of the registereds????? You will not be sorry, and you don't mention it being beat up, so give her a makeover, all women like a new do! billymagg
Oh yeah, I LOVE your avatar, I just loved that guy, he played on a made for TV show called Ripcord! Quite a guy! billy
