Default Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. OR I bought a M&P.

I THOUGHT I was done buying S&Ws (I bought 6 in the last year) but a nice M&P .38 with a 4" barrel just wouldn't stop calling my name today.

Owner claims it is a 1949, it has a pretty good finish with some very light pitting and just a faint turn line with no holster wear (which I will remedy over the next season of IDPA).

NOW I am done...though I do need a P&Red J frame to round out my collection...

Sounds nice! How about some pictures? Maybe she could get a family pic with all of this year's Smith purchases...

It will have to be a 22 since 32s and 38s were never recessed.

I'll get pics in a few weeks when I get a free day to pic it up and they are open. Family pictures are forthcoming.

The early J frames where never recessed? ok, I need a pinned .38 J frame to round out my collection then. lol.

Only .22s and Magnum revolvers were recessed, in any frame.

Here is a pic. All number matching including the stocks. I swapped out the stocks for Alimont bonded ivory (it is kind of my trademark, almost all my S&W revolvers have Alimont ivorys, plus I want to protect these stocks as they are honestly in 97%+ condition.) Looking at the recoil shield you would be hard pressed to think it was ever fired but I know it has, plus the very light freckling above the cylinder release and lack of box puts it firmly in the shooter category.

1949 sounds about right for the ship year. Please let us know how it shoots.

It is supposed to be over 105 degrees this weekend, lets just say I will not be hitting the outdoor range this weekend.

If I don't get out during the week next week I will probably shoot it for the first time at IDPA.
