Default 5 screw K-22 price check

I just bought a 5 screw K-22 on an impulse looks unfired , diamond grips and came in gold color box. My LGS owner told me He gave it away to me. He charged me a total of 520.00 I never had a K-22.

You need to put a in your post! That is anywhere from a very good to an excellent price for any 5-screw K-22. Can you give the SN?

And now you also owe us some photos...

Default 5 Screw k-22

I would say you got it for roughly half price.
Anyone who doesn't think so does not follow current prices.
Remember it doesn't matter what you paid two or three years ago,
it matters what they are now.
The Blue book on standard Model 10's is over $500.00 for NIB.
Here is Blue Book, it is $850.00 and I will take a dozen 100% K-22'S
at $850.00 You bought at 70% price which is actually too high at $500.00
But $850.00 for 100% is way too low in my lowly opinion anyway.

100% 98% 95% 90% 80% 70% 60% 50% 40% 30% 20% 10%
$850 $775 $725 $650 $575 $500 $425 $325 $250 $200 $175 $150

Well, 1 1/2 years ago I paid $425 + tax at an auction for a 1948 vintage K-22 with about 80% finish or a little less and was happy, so what do you think I think about your deal? Wanna make a few bucks on a quick resale?

Ok, so the LGS owner was your father? Saying he gave it away (to you) implies you got it for free, but $520 for the gun you describe is like getting it for free. What family secret do you hold over your father, or who ever he is?

Serial number and pictures please!

If the K22 is in 99+% and the (original to the revolver) box is in excellent shape, you would expect to pay $850-1000 in this neck of the woods. Is it a 4" or 6" barrel?

Its a six inch . Satin finish . It is 99% and looks unfired.
The gold box does not have any nubmers on it, but it is for a six inch K-22.

1949? Interesting.

I will go back to the store today to take another look at it.

( I cant pick it up for 10 days.)

I am not sure, but the weird part is that its like a 6 inch model 19.

What I mean is that ejector is not fully exposed.

I know it sounds weird. I will take a pic and post it .

You got a great deal! I've seen just the gold boxes, in nice shape, sell for $100+. Take a look at the bottom of the box. Many times the serial number was written there in grease pencil. If the gun is truly that nice, I'd bet it's the original box. Not sure about the ejector rod without a pic.

It should have a forward locking point for the ejector rod, like every K frame past the 1899 until the Combat Magnum. The latter had a shrouded or enclosed ejector rod.

Unless the previous owner swapped a Model 53 barrel and auxilliary 22lr cylinder onto that frame ?

You can barely see a serial number of the gun written on the bottom of the box. It does look unfired. Ejector looks normal.

With the box, I'd have paid $900, no questions asked, maybe more.

Now you're talkin'. I don't know if he "gave it to you", but that gun will bring you a lot more enjoyment than $520.00 will bring him. In fact, I'd be willing to bet he already spent that money, and you still have that beautiful gun. Tell me, who's ahead?

Thank You everyone.

The interesting part of all this , is that I found out that the revolver never left the family of the original owner who bought it new at some gun shop in San Francisco.

I think its just gona go in the safe. I have other .22's that I can shoot.

Nice story! If you think the gun has been fired, I would be tempted to fire a box of .22a through it and take appropriate photos before retiring it to the safe.

5-screw K-22s are a joy to own and shoot. Your call on shooting this one though. It looks really fine! Sonora

Yeah, it is unfired . It will stay that way for a while , I will try to get owners manual and tools for it . The box is original to the gun.
