Default Another 1950 Pre-26 Thread

It's really great to see all those 1950's. I have been planning to post this for a couple days and now they are everywhere. I love it. This is S 98470 wearing targets from a few years later. Although not correct for this gun, finding non-relieved smooth rosewood targets is a daunting task.

The gun was shipped to Hoffman Hardware in Los Angeles on September 2, 1952, and I believe it was shot quite a bit back in the day. I am amazed at how well these guns were made.

Nice gun and stocks. Kris certainly is the stock Guru!!

I just bought a pre 26 from a member here about two months ago. It's a great shooting gun and it has quickly become one of my favorites to shoots. I also replaced the original magnas with a set of smooth targets and they make the gun fit my hands so much better.

Just to show how the serial numbers jump around ( and a chance to post pics), I looked long and hard to find this '52 Pre26. Serial# is S85393 over 13K from yours, and it shipped in May.

Thanks for the kind words. I tried to research the ship dates and ser.#s and they are really all over the map for the Pre26. Yours is the highest I have seen so far for 1952, the lowest is mine with another May shipped gun #S969**. Most of the '52s I found are in the 90s, but there is one, S855** from November. I guess they sat in the vault till they finally sold. Lee

Here is a late one, from 1955 I reckon. It's got its box and original magnas, but is, for me, more agreeable to shoot with the big Kurac stocks. It also has target hammer and trigger, which I'd bet are later additions. I should get a letter one day to make sure.

I`m glad I forgot what time the bidding was over. Still wouldn`t have won them though.

Hi
Here is a Pair of Pre Model 26,s they were shipped as a pair from the factory on special order. They were order by a Town Marshall to use for special events,
he had a pair of western holsters made for them. I bought them in 1984 from a friend of the family and received the holsters with them.

Worth if it you can. They are amazing stocks. I love my set dearly:

I know I am not playing this game correctly, since my .45acp "target" is all kinds of incorrect (being a first year 1917 with a grooved hammer, what looks to be a factory reblue, and a pre-war rear target sight/king front sight added to it, with the addition of non-relieved smooth rosewood targets).

Don't really care, I love it.

I still really want a pre-26, and you guys aren't making that desire go down at all. Those relieved rosewood stocks are glorious. This thread is really making my wallet tingle and shake right now.
