The Model 48 barrel marking of m.c.f is interesting. I would expect it was .22 MRF? Is it a Model 53 barrel and a Model 48 frame?

What is great shape - 90%, 95%, 98% 99%? Without photos or more information, my estimate is $700 up $1200 based on condition. To get maximum price, you need to find a buyer that really wants a K-Chuck. There aren't that many of them.

Welcome to the forum.

I don't think it's a Model 53 barrel, they are stamped ".22 MAGNUM".
Does the barrel have an open extractor rod or shrouded?

Most likely the barrel was re-stamped when converted. Does the stamping look professional like factory stamping?

Most Harvey Kay-Chuks Conversions were done at Bennett Gun Works. The 22m.c.f. means. Yup yours is a Bennett conversion Harvey Kay- Chuk

They used the .22 cylinders from the Model 17,18,48 and as they all were 1.62" long and a K Centre-Fire Frame Model 14,15,16,19 as they were target type K Frame guns.

Most likely they used a Cylinder and Barrel from a model 48 on your gun.

Bennett Gun Works produced about around a few hundred of them or so.

I seen one here in Canada for sale a few years ago and they were asking $700 for it about a $150 more what the .22 K frames were going for.

And depends on who would want one as you have to reload for this round and make brass from a .22 Hornet casing

It would be a real blast to shoot I bet because I have a M53 Rem Jet and its a hoot to shoot.

Rick

Default Kay Chuk

The original Harvey Kay Chuk was made by Jim Harvey & Don Cassavant of Lakeville Arms Co., Lakeville, Conn. They were made on model 17 or 48 guns either from the customer or a new gun.

They redesign the firing pin to a center fire condition retaining the original rim fire hammer. There is no records of how many guns they converted. Later the rights were sold to the Bennett Gun Works, Delmar, N.Y. Bennett stamped their guns on the barrels.

Mgibson - You mentioned "single action" so I will assume the double action sear has been removed form the hammer. Also it sounds like the frame has had the barrel replaced with a Jet barrel. I agree with the prices Rad29 mentioned however, considering the alterations to the original model 48 I would say the value is very close to the low end of $700. IMHO! ! !
You mentioned two numbers that appear to be serial numbers! ? ! The serial number on the bottom of the butt frame is the number that would be used as the guns serial number. I would like to see pics of this gun(please)!

Seems like there was a pretty good discussion about the 224 k-chuck revolvers a month or two ago. Maybe in the handloading or ammo forum?

Great.

Thanks guys. Now I need to add a 224 kay chuck to my list of; "things I must own".

These are some dang neat guns.

I swear, my wallet would probably leap from my pocket and run in terror if I ever meet any of you in person.
