Default 27-1, Nickel plated

Hello All

I am wonder if I could please get some help verifying the stampings and options (factory or not) on a 27-1 I have?

27-1 stamped on the yoke
S220XXX serial number on butt and yoke
5" barrel
.357 magnum caliber
H stamped into back of cylinder
magna grips
four screw N frame
ramp front sight
fixed rear sight? (windage screw only)
tension screw for hammer spring

The major question I have is that it is all nickel plated (hammer, trigger, sights) except for the cartridge extractor in back of cylinder and the rear sight blade, is that a factory option?

I tried to post pictures but it failed to upload I will investigate and try later, thanks to all in advance for any information that you can provide. I sent for letter from Roy Jinks back in November 13 but have heard nothing so far (does it usually take this long to research and reply)?

I understand Mr. Jinks has about a 4 month backlog so you should be hearing pretty soon. It sounds like your 27-1 (a rare model) has been refinished. The hammer, trigger and sights should not be nickel. If the gun was shipped originally from the factory in nickel, there should be an "N" stamped on the frame under the left grip panel. Welcome to the forum!

I found an R on the left and what looks like a W on the right.
Thanks
David

S220,000 – S227,999……Late 1961 – Early 1962

I'd agree that if the hammer and trigger are plated, the revolver was plated outside the factory. Confirmation would be no "N" stamp (which might also be stamped on the rear face of the cylinder on factory -nickeled 29s)

That H on the back of the cylinder also doesn't sound good as it was used to mark The Highway Patrolman cylinders

I didn't catch the H cylinder stamping the first time. I'm not sure any Highway Patrolman (HP) revolvers (Model 28 after the late 1950s) came from the factory nickel plated. And if yours is stamped as a Model 27-1, it may have a replacement cylinder from a Model 28. Anyway, things don't add up.
