Hi Folks,
Was at the local gunshow today walking the crowded isles and trying to forget about a nice model 27 that I had missed out on. Was thinking that maybe I would get lucky and find something else. Not really. I was thinking I blew it and my day was ruined.
But I roamed around and purchased a nice k-38 sporting some really nice Sanderson target grips for a great price and then was talking with a freind when I spotted this.
It is a Model 29 no-dash with a ser# S1845xx. I think I remember reading somewhere that the long barrelled 29's started somewhere in the S184xxx range. If so this may be one of the first long snout 29's to have ever been made.
It was wearing goodyears and I just happened to have this set of coke's waiting for such a gun.
The price was $575 with the old rig thrown in. The man had paid for his bro-in-law's funeral and his sister gave him some guns to recoup some of the money. This was one of the guns.
I gladly paid him his price and ended up comming home with 2 really nice s&w's.
It has a few dings here and there and just a little muzzle wear but not too bad overall. I think the serial # puts it in the 1958 year range.
The last picture shows the k-38 i picked up today also.
Twig.
