Default Aquired what for me was a "Grail Gun" Birth year 17

Other than a K32 or 32 WCF Target, neither of which I expect to buy anytime soon, a M17 is about the only S&W I've really wanted that I've not owned at some time or another. When I found one with 1958 production serial number I knew I'd probably not be able to resist. Paid a little more than I wanted to but with todays prices $645 is not THAT bad. And I actually have a good selection of 22 ammo on hand to fire through it.

$645 is not at all bad for a M17 in decent condition. I paid $700 a couple of years ago for my pre-17, shipped in my birth month and year (1956). Oh, forgot to add one thing. Now that you've got that birth year M17, you'll find yourself obsessing over a M18 to go with it. I just got mine (a pre-18) a couple of months ago after a long search.

Did not that much for my pre 17. But then again I have had it a little longer, like 50 years. One of the very best handguns ever made, IMO.
