How many Factory Nickel Combat Masterpieces do you ever get to see?
Well, heres one.
Smith & Wesson - K38 / Nickle / Military-Police : Revolvers at GunBroker.com
Its a shame it wasn't in better shape, the frame has some serious corrosion and the rest of the gun has heavy oxidation. The butt swivel is also nickel but it appears it was installed overtop of the first digit of the SN, so likely not factory.
I bid on the gun but decided enough was enough, even though it didn't sell for a ton of money. It will make someone a neat clean-up project.

If I'm the reading the price right then this gun sold for $255.00. That's + tax + S&H +transfer fee's + more here and there and all the sudden it ain't such a good price... Now, I would buy a gun like this for $350.00 but then again I really need a 5 screw nickle gun to fill a hole in my CM collection. It's easy for me to justify a CM purchase for some reason.

Tax? You only have to pay tax if you live in the same State as the seller and the seller owns a Business.

When I said Combat Masterpiece, I meant 5 screws in particular. I realize they made them in the 70s and 80s

Couple of nickel model 15's
I had already downloaded the pictures before I read the message about 5-screw frames
only. So - here are the pictures anyway.
This first gun is about K750XXX, shipped as the pictures show it. Its a model 15-2 .
This second gun is K397XXX. Its a model 15, but its very special.
Its special because its one of the 3 or 4 surviving stainless steel prototypes. These
were the first stainless steel guns to be made by the factory. They did not have a
separate model number for the stainless guns, so its stamped, and letters as, a
model 15. This gun was presented to a police commissioner in the Caribbean, to
be tested in the salt-air atmosphere of the islands.

Nice Combat Masterpiece, some say not many produced with the Nickel finish and they are nice. Mike, as usual, your stainless Model Marked 15's are very nice but you didn't need me to tell you that. They are surely "Keepers"! Appreciate both you guys for sharing!

Disregard, current 4-screw on GB isn't that nice.
If original nickel the extractor should be blued correct?
