Pre 29 project & 29 No Dash finished. Photos fixed now.
When I got home from my first visit to the Tulsa gun show, I unpacked and found this amazing 4 screw, 4" pre 29 in the bottom of my suitcase. Happened to meet a gentleman from Chicago at the SW Bunch BBQ who happened to mention he had a 4" box he could let go of in exchange for my first born. By good fortune I already had the correct, fluted, aluminum top SAT. Where I am at a loss is for the correct cleaning tools. I have never seen a photo of the pre 29 cleaning rod, mop or brush. I think the satin in this box is original (it had 2 desicant packs in it). I cannot imagine S&W putting a cleaning brush on this delicate material. Did they? Is the rod and mop any different from later implements? I'd appreciate any info.
Also shown is my 4 screw, 6.5" 29 no dash that I assembled a case for. Reflocking was by Joe Cebull. The fluted aluminum long taper SAT was from 29aholic. The rod and brush came from other forum members. That is the great thing about this forum: knowledge plus resources! Thanks, for helping me get this set together. BTW, this 29 is only a couple thousand numbers off from the Dirty Harry 29 in the NRA museum.
Ironically, I am not a box collector. Very, very few of my kids have factory boxes. I just felt like these two deserved something more that a gun rug (actually, I frequently use socks).

I can not get the pictures to show and I really would like to see them. I have a similar project started. Especially would like to see the re-flocked case.

Randy...a 44 Magnum that was shipped in the dark blue/black presentation case would have shipped with a sight screwdriver with a knurled (not fluted ) aluminum handle. The photo below shows one of the rare cased Combat Magnums, but the accessories are also correct for your 44 Magnum.

Bill, now that I've gotten the pictures fixed... I think I have the correct SAT with the correct gun. If I recall correctly, you were the one who pointed out that the knurled SAT that I had found for the 29-0 was too early. It was the fluted/long taper that I had the hardest time finding at a reasonable price. Did they really put a brush in on the satin lining? Thanks again for the help.

Hi Randy, here's the 4" Pre29 I picked up awhile back in its original case w/tools as shipped in January '57. As the wise sage often says....."hope this helps." Doc
Edit: It has been pointed out to me I am wrong about the tools. The ones I pictured should have brass bases, not aluminum.

The brush was an accessory beginning in early 1956. The photo below shows sight screwdrivers from various years. Your 44 Magnum should have the one on the far left.
