By my book probably 1966. But S&W shipped guns out of serial order all the time and the only way to know a ship year for certain is to drop the $50 for the letter.

Thanks!
I found a thread with a similar serial number that was dated mid 60s - unfortunately on both counts, wrong decade.

Birth Year Gun
Found my 1950 birth year gun. A K22 that shipped in June. Same month I was born.

I have maybe half a dozen guns made in 1955 (my year) but I never went looking for any of them. Just happened to acquire them. The closest S&W I have is a 1950 44 Target Model shipped 4/26/55, exactly one week after my birthday.
A forum member once offered me a 357 that shipped on my birthday (4/19/55) but I hesitated at the asking price. Now I would likely buy it.

If you want to volunteer your birth year, we can get you the various SN ranges for each frame size...the rest is up to you after that .

Certainly - '59 and I'd be pleased to find one in any of the frame sizes manufactured during that golden era.
Thanks!

I was born in '52, same year that S&W published the Centennial Catalog. I've been trying to collect the models listed in the catalog, and the closest I've come to an actual "birthday gun" was a .22/32 Kit Gun Transitional that was shipped the day before I was born. Good luck on your search.

J frame (approximate) - 180000
K frame (fixed sight, approximate) - C420000, Target K350548 - 386804 (these are reported)
N frame - S194500 - 206999 (reported)
These may be just model numbered or -1s. Others will chime in more specific numbers, I'm sure. Good luck in your search!
