M29-2 S-prefix
Can anyone comment on the price and a price differential for an early 29-2 in S230XXX range, 6.5 inch barrel, made in 1962, in 97-98% condition, compared to a N-prefix gun in the same condition?(not taking into account the value of a minty set of Cokes on the S-prefix gun...so assume both guns have non-diamond target grips of the early 1970s vintage).
Thanks!

In my non-expert opinion the biggest asset of the early 29s are the stocks. Without them my non-expert opinion would be maybe $50-$100 premium over a later version.

No premium without the cokes.

Well. Hate to argue. But I wouldn't buy a N Serial, but would buy a S Serial. Because you can put Cokes on the S and it's correct. But a 27-2 N serial will always just have non Diamond targets and that in my book makes a big difference.
I would put a value difference of 200 +/- a little.
Being an early 27-2 S makes a difference too as after 1965 or so they didn't ship with Cokes and after 1968 the S Serial shipped with Non Diamond targets.

"S" over "N" Prefix
Personal opinion only but the purest among us will always choose the "S" over the "N" because of the age difference. No, I'm not saying one is better than the other but the older the better for most folks who consider themselves true collectors. Yes, the "S" will command a higher asking price in my opinion. As time passes and new versions evolve the "N" may take its place as the more desirable of those choices eventually.
