Default Early Regulation Police

I've just been given the opportunity to take ownership of an early S&W Regulation Police. The serial number is 23xx, which leads me to believe it was shipped in the first year or two. While it's not in NRA Fine condition, it's really not in bad shape considering it was a duty gun for many years. It came with the original, issued Aubrey Folsom leather duty holster and served as the duty weapon for a local police chief that started his career in the FBI after WWII.

I've been told to more or less name my price, so I thought I would come to you fine folks for an idea of where it should be.

Take all the answers you get and average them. That'll be pretty close to a real world price.

My take is: rougher than that have sold for $350. Better than that at $750. I'd call that one at $500-550, depending on how you value the holster.

That one is pretty likely to have shipped in 1917, the first year. But it won't have been shipped before June 5, because that's when S&W got the patent for the design of the rebated frame and square butt stocks. The two months of production that went out before the patent was published have unstamped RP stocks.

I just paid $595 for this one, SN 43XX.
I've seen Folsom holsters offered for as much as $175 by themselves. (I'm assuming you mean Audley?)
