Smile 1950 Target with Sanderson Stocks

I have tried these stocks on various revolvers. I think they are a natural fit on this 1950 44 Target shipped in late 1955. Click on the photo for a better look.

Default 1950 Target question

Bill-
Striking image--as usual. Is the revolver equipped with a WO rear sight blade?

Very nice Bill! I have these lying around waiting for the right revolver. You don't see N frame Sandersons too often.

Had a set like those for an N-frame; sold them to another Forum member for $80.00. I guess I didn't know at the time what they were or who Sanderson was. Not really a loss, though; I'm left-handed.

Jim...The 44 has TT, TH and a white outline rear sight (and a bright blue finish).

Kris...nice looking Sandersons.

Very nice Doc.
I had a client gift me a pair he thought were for a Colt. I found they fit an N frame. I offered them back but he said no so I gifted them to a friend who pined for a pair but couldn't find any anywhere. I figured it was good karma to do so.

Lovely!
A bit reddish for my tastes, but the color nicely complements the bright blue. I am fortunate to have N frame Sanderson grips I traded for by accident thinking they were Herrett.

Beautiful Doc,

Sandersons may not have the popularity of Ropers but they do fit me and my TL well!

Bill,
I agree with you. You say "natural fit" and I might say "just right." Either way you phrase it those grips on that gun are beautiful.

Juxtaposing what Supreme Court Justice Potter Steward said about obscenity, I cannot define "natural fit" or "looks just right" but I know it when I see it and that revolver with those grips looks "just right" to me.

Thanks for the nice picture.
John

Hello Bill
That Gun BEG'S to be shot and enjoyed. With that said here is the next generation of .45 Target revolver my Five screw heavy barrel .45. This One get's shot Often and Taken afield for deer Hunting in my S&W shoulder rig ! It has an odd 5-7/8" Barrel on it that appear's to me to be original to the gun. I have not lettered it and probably won't as it's my shooter, and shining Range Buddy and as shown she really shoots well at the 25 yard Line off a sand bag. Regards, Hammerdown

Here's a thought... just send them to me and I'll identify them by what I can put them on. Seriously though, if you post front and rear views of them with a ruler, perhaps we can help you out.

Froggie

PS If they fit I- or J-frames, I could really be interested!

I'm fairly sure they are not for a revolver?

I'm going to guess they are either for an old Colt Woodsman or an early post-War High Standard or some other semi-auto 22 target gun, but having THREE screw holes in each is a little strange. They've definitely got the typical Sanderson features, though.
