Need a ;ot more than just the first digit of the SN. But based solely on appearance it is a .32 Hand Ejector, and depending on year made it could me a Model 30. Built 1968 or earlier from the stocks.
The Model 31 is square butt.

You have as ALK8941 posted, a Model .32 Hand Ejector.
It's a Model of 1953 built on New I frame before Model #s were assigned in June of 1957. It has the new style hammer and the 3rd style flat cyl thumb release latch.
If it has a large head screw at the top of the sideplate on the other side, it was built after 1954 but before the end of 1956.
If not stamped Mod 30 in the yoke hinge, it was built but before 1958.
If it is stamped Mod 30 in the yoke hinge it was built in 1958 or 9.
I can pin it down further with at least the 1st three of the 6 digit serial #.
After Jan 1961 that model was built on the slightly longer J frame as the Model 30-1.
Hope this is helpful.

We DON'T need the actual number if it bothers you to post it.
We DO need the EXACT number of digits. You can list the last 3 numbers as XXX.
The one TRUE place you can be sure of reading the serial number is the BUTT of the gun.
So is it 649XXX?

if it's 649xxx, more than likely from the late 1960s. If 649xx, from late 1955. From appearance, I'd say the latter.
