Model 42 Centenniel Airweight NICKEL
Hello and Good Morning from Germany!
Those of you who have read my former articles certainly know that I do love guns which are nickel plated.
Just by chance I found an ad on a dealers website where he offered a Smith & Wesson model 42. He did not give more information, but from the pictures I learned that this was a rare nickel plated model 42 Airweight. I also realized that is has the little lock screw to secure the upper side plate screw. I gave the dealer a call and he really didn't know what price he should ask for. Finally I payed a really fair price and the deal was done. This morning the packaged arrived and of course I was very curious to see what I bought. Ok - the gun is not in mint condition, but the flaws are mainly on the nickel plated aluminium parts where the surface is not perfect. I disassembled the gun and found everything in very good condition. After cleaning and oiling I gave the outside a little polish, just by hand - not with a Dremel or similar tool. The result looks very satisfying for me and I hope you like my pictures. By the way - grips have correct numbers and S/N is 13728 which dates it back to the early 50s. Enjoy the pictures.
