Gun made the year i was born.
Took a 1/2 day Wednesday to go shooting and stopped by LGS on my way home, i Try and stay out of gun stores as i spend too much money on my hobby and sometimes end up with something i end up with buyers remorse the next day. Saw a decent condition S&w model 14, 38sp 6" barrel for 399, i am a novice-collector of s&w, this was a no-dash model, so i plunked my money down, when i got home i looked it up in my s&w book, model14-no dash were only made 57-59, looked up the serial number, 1959, same year i was hatched, definitely a keeper, looks like the original magna grips, 4 screw model, pinned barrel. Some wear on the end of the barrel and turn ring on the cylinder, but definitely not beat up. Any one else have a gun produced the year they were born?

My K-22 Masterpiece was not only made the year (1952) I was born, It shipped ( to my home state) 4 days before I was born.

The best I can do is my K22, shipped the year I was in the second grade, 1957, one of the last before the Model 17.

Last summer I bought three (3) J frames hoping they were built in 1960 (my birth year).
The model 40 turn out to be from 1967, the model 38 from 1957, but the model 36 was indeed built in 1960. I find it special to own a gun built the year I was born and will keep this little revolver the rest of my life.
(my 1st five shots at 10 yards)

Pre model 28 built in my birth year. The ship date missed my birth month by 11 days.

A well used early Model 27-2, 6.5" barreled shooter is the only one in my stable that I know shipped in my birth year. It was also the very first (of many) Model 27's in my collection. I think I paid $300 for it.

Really nice find. Don't we all deserve a nice S&W revolver once in a while ? The only way I could buy a S&W made in my birth year is if S&W ever made a flint lock

I picked up a decent M & P with a 5 inch barrel a couple of yeas ago that was made the year I was born - 1952. The same day I bought that one, I also bought my CM - I just couldn't leave them both sitting in that big old display case at the LGS! :-)
The 5 inc M & P is one of my favorite shooters!

My birth year changes everytime I see a nice S&W.
I do have two, a 3 digit K22 shipped the month I was born - March 1947, and a 2" m&p shipped Oct '47. I thought about lettering the K22 to see if it hit my birth year, month and DAY, but if I don't know, I still have hope.

I do not have any birth year guns. Have thought about it before but they would probably be in the same physical shape as me! Bob

I had a K-22 dated to 1951, and a K-38 dated to 1953 at one time, bracketing my birth year on either side. Had to sell them during a period of "economic downtime" (out of work).
But I've got one on layaway now, that comes with a factory letter stating it shipped March 19, 1952, to a hardware store in Knoxville, Tenn., five months before my birthday.
38 S&W, Terrier.

Didn't know it at the time, but my 19-3 shipped 12/70, the month I was born.
I also have a 1970 34-1 but not sure about the month.

Since I was born in 41, they were producing very little but British 38/200 at the time. I do have one, but would like to find some of the early 41 regular production guns. There were some outstanding models in the 41 catalog.

How about a DWM PO8 Luger, 1938. And, it is definitely in much better shape than I am and still goes BANG!

Is it possible to ID any model by serial number to 1947? It would be great to have a S&W my age, 67. OUCH that is getting older!

I would think a N frame with serial number S66000-S69000 would be a good starting place.

I was born in February of 47 and this M&P was shipped in April. I got it at the SWCA meeting in KC a couple of years ago. I passed on a similar gun with a 6 inch barrel as I wanted the 4.

The only gun I own made in my birth year is a Mauser K98 transition rifle with some interesting markings. You younger fellas have far more choices than us "senior" senior citizens born during the great depression. I don't think that either S&W or Colt were making many guns during 1934!
