I found this one in a pawn shop;
I know the stocks are wrong.
The sideplate has been off.
Back strap has worn to a nice brown patina.
S/N match: barrel, frame, cylinder, and under extractor star.
Bluing overall is not bad, with wear at muzzle and slightly on front edge of cylinder and various slight scratches.
My question is what value would you attach to this revolver?
Also note that the SCSW states that the square butt versions are rare?

Yes, they are. Much later than the gun.
Based on numbers in my own collection, I would suggest a late 1926 ship date for this one. The extractor rod knob places it before about mid-year 1927.

I'd say between $300 and $400. The 5" barrel makes it somewhat attractive as a shooter.

That is an error in the 3d Edition. Not only are they not scarce (it does not say "rare"), they are actually very common.

Thanks for the clarification JP. I don’t have my book at office so was going from memory.
Will the errors ĺI think I noticed some others too) be corrected in the 4th Edition do you suppose?
