My Triple Lock Letter Arrived!
Acquired this some months ago from a fellow forum member. Sent for a letter mid March. (Check mailed 3/12, letter arrived 8/1). The TL is in 44 Special and all matching--including the grips--and matches the letter. According to Mr. Jinks research this kiddo was shipped Nov. 11, 1917 to Schoverling, Daly and Gale, New York City. In reading other threads on TLs it would seem that a large number of TLs were shipped in the fall of 1917. The serial number on my gun is 91xx, yet I've read of other numbers as high as 13,xxx shipping at about the safe time. Were the distributers cleaning out the S&W warehouse as the company became dedicated to wartime production?
My example is tight with excellent lockup and bright bore. Wear on the sides of the barrel would suggest it might have been carried a lot.
Leather in photo is by 05carbondrz. Book is by Julian Hatcher and was my grandfather's first edition copy.

Even with the wear, that is still a beautiful gun! I love the N frames. Congrats!

It's a beautiful old revolver, no doubt about it. I'd really like to see it joined with a vintage Myres holster and belt.

Absolutely beautiful. Honest wear and patina just adds to the character. Dick

I wonder if it is on the 'roster' for NY now?
That is quite a package.....now, where is the range report?

If only it could talk. . . . I'd love to hear the stories it could tell us. To quote another of our members, that revolver is "hand-held history."

I generally avoid the term "grail gun" but I believe that one may be the exception to my rule. It's a great old piece that has survived its 98 years of duty in fine form. I would venture to say that almost anyone on this forum would be proud and happy to own that gun. Congratulations.
