Default Model 28 No Dash paperwork & screwdriver

I have a 1959 Model 28 No Dash that needs paperwork.

I'm wondering if S&W made a Model 28 manual with "diamond" grips showing?

I have 28-2 paperwork that does not show diamond grips of course - but I'm guessing they made an earlier version of a manual for the earlier 28s wearing diamond grips.

Am I right? Does anyone have one for sale?

What screw driver would have come with this?

Thanks for the help

All I can tell you is I have a very early model marked, M28-0, that came to me with relieved targets. Whether it came with magnas and targets were added later I can't say for certain. . I bought the gun from the original owner, 9-10 years ago, and he was getting up in years and couldn't recall what he done with the box and documents so I didn't bother asking about the stocks. . M28 manuals I have are for later ones and they're pictured with magnas.

Both my 4 screw 28-0 show diamond grips & are dated 1/1/1960 . Correct SAT would be the long fluted tapered . Somewhat scarce & pricey as they were around only 2 - 3 years IIRC . Put an ad in the WTB section & keep an eye on GB & Ebay .

rgm36...the Parts & Instruction sheet you need will show the Model 28 with diamond Magna stocks and a four-screw frame. I believe the correct sight screwdriver for your Model 28 would have a knurled aluminum handle (the sight screwdriver with a flat blade and fluted aluminum handle was not introduced until 1960).

I have a 1960 no dash 6". No tools, box or anything. Just a good looking, shooting Smith. It was my 1st G.B. purchase. It came with Goodyears. Good luck on your hunt!
Some pictures needed.

Most of the 4 page Parts Lists for the early S&W's were dated January 1960. I believe that there might be a few from the late 50's but I don't think I have any in my collection.

As Bill stated, the side plate shown does not have an upper screw so they are a representation of the 4 screw model.

You will also note that some of the very early parts list from 1960 are in color and not just black and white. I have several with blue printing and I think there may be some with green or red.
