Default Pondering on what to look for next....

All older Smiths...

A blued .32-20 square butt new enough to have the easier to see sights and hardened cylinder. I have my nickeled gun, but have wanted a blued 5" .32-20 for a while.

.455 Mk II., preferably shaved to .45 Colt. Not much on that long 6 1/2" barrel, though.

Or, a franken-gun I found on Gunbroker years ago, one that to my mind was the ultimate N-frame: A 1917 that had been re-cylindered or something to .45 Colt.

I like .45s and 5" barrels as much as .32-20s and 5" barrels. And am already set up for both .32-20 and .45 Colt reloading...

Hi Dave,

All good choices IMO.

Just FYI: the conversion considered the best method and the least intrusive for the 455 to 45 Colt is done by recessing the chamber mouths .015" rather than shaving. It retains the original cyl s/n as well as the ability to still shoot 455.

Well, I have a line on both a First Model .32-20 and a later one, too.

Dave, dont discount moving back into the 1800s. Im re-discovering just how neat and innovative some of the old stuff is. Just look around. Its amazing how much is surfacing. If you like the early 1900s HEs ,buy them. Just look back at the early stuff.
