Philips screw.....maybe inlet a compass and they will be perfect!
Honestly, they are very nice stocks - just get a flat head

Or, you could take some furniture stripper to the shine and see what kind of wood lurks beneath before starting the search again.

For the shiny problem, try some "rotten stone" in a mixture with mineral oil. Make up a paste about the consistency of tooth paste. Using a soft cloth (old T Shirt) apply the paste and rub out the entire surface. Wipe clean, if still too shiny, repeat. This will knock the shiny down and impart a depth to a sort of semi gloss finish.

I am going to throw this idea out there
I got these on this S&W 57 four years ago. These stocks would be period correct for your revolver, and actually fit a right hand very well. I sold that gun and stocks a few years ago, should of kept it and had the factory refinish it.
