.38 Special Victory model.
I'm not sure if this qualifies as an antique or not, but I've inherited a few handguns from my uncle, and one was a S&W .38 Special Victory model. I am trying to find out when it was manufactured and any other info that might be available. Is there someone who might be able to help or possibly point me in the right direction?
The serial number is V4105 and there is a marking inside the chamber which reads KO 45738 (possibly KO 45739?).
Thanks in advance for any help which may be offered!

Actually this needs to go in the 1896-1961 section. You'll get your answers there.

Welcome to the forum!
You don't give us much to work with, but if you got the V serial from the butt next to the lanyard swivel, your Victory is from late spring/early summer 1942.
I'm not sure what you mean by the "chamber", since that revolver has six and it's hard to imagine anything stamped inside them. Any chance you could post a photo?

The lighting isn't great, but what I see on your photos so far is a by all indications all-original US Victory in very nice condition. The finish looks almost unissued, no dings in the wood underside.
If by any chance you mean the yoke area (which is visible when you swing out the cylinder) by your chamber reference, then your second set of numbers would make sense; they'd be assembly numbers from the factory, meaningless to us and the gun's history.
Does it have a stamping on the top strap? I suspect not, or you would have mentioned it.
The next step would be to check for all-matching serial numbers. The V 4105 should appear on the cylinder face, the underside of the barrel, the back of the extractor star (a bit awkward to see), and the back of the right grip panel.

Boy, the finish on this one looks nice. I'll stay tuned for some better pics, I hope.
