Default .38/44 Heavy Duty Model of 1950

My dad's eyesight is going and he split up his guns between my brother and I. This HD is in great shape with almost no holster wear from the Lawrence holster it has been stored in for the past 50+ years. I believe he bought it used as there is not box or papers to go with it. Serial number is S10988xx.

If you are looking for a shipping date, it's likely to be in mid-1954. You have a very nice HD there.

Always treasure it. I got 2 Model 28s from my Dad a couple of years before he passed on, and I know I do.

Very nice! 38/44s are my favorite S&W.

Quit storing it in the holster. You're very lucky that it hasn't rusted from that.

Beautiful gun ! There's just something about the N frame 38/44 HD that is very appealing. Especially in a 4" barrel. I'm looking at one here locally, owned by a private individual but I'm not sure what it's value is and I wouldn't want to insult the guy. It looks very close to the one you posted.

Beautiful revolver.

I'd never paid much attention to 38/44's until recently when I got one of my own.

Now, I think they're the cat's pajama's.
