Default K-22 Hat trick

I was lucky enough to find 3 correct K-22s last Sunday.

1. K-22 1st OD #647543, shipped 7/1934 - Looks to be a King gun.
2. K-22 Masterpiece # K475, shipped 2/1947 - pretty early one
3. K-22 Masterpiece # K251411

Question- If the OD is a King gun, will a letter show that it was shipped to King? Or did individuals buy guns and then ship them to King for modification?

Thank you for any insight you have on the King OD

I believe the letter could go either way as Smith did ship guns to King.

I would bet either way.

Pretty cool. Nice find.

Default To be honest, I'm not sure.

The rear blade looks like some of the others I have seen on King guns, but I'm not sure.
Are there any attributes that differentiate a King blade?

Well, for one, there were no white outline factory blades at that time. It's a King and if you take the blade out, it should be stamped King, but they aren't always stamped. Very neat gun. Wish it was mine.

Thanks Kris, I appreciate the help.

I think I may get a letter for this one, I'd love to have a gun that shipped to King sight in SF.
Does anybody know if King sight co. ever offered additional checkering as part of their performance package, one set of stocks that came with this gun have additional checkering, and tastefully done.

Nice guns! My 1st impression is I like the additional checkering. Do you have a photo of the stocks off the gun to show all the checkering?

Originally, I wondered why the only did half of the left panel, but then I realized the hand does not touch in that location. There are also a few additional lines on the front of both stocks where the pinkie finger wraps around.

Great Guns!!!

This RM letters as shipping directly to King:

Whereas, neither of these two King Super Target Outdoorsmans letter as shipping to King:

... So...Most likely, the factory put on a king front sight, which was one of the sight options...

Here is the "sights" section of the Outdoorsman brochure:

Wow! I'd consider any one of those a FIND!
If I may ask, what was the venue where you "found" them?
Estate sale, LGS, auction, private sale, pawn shop, etc;
all three in the same place?

Awesome batch of .22s. I'm jealous. I have a 1947 and 1957, so now I realize I need a 1937!

I found them at a little local gun show in Vermont.

Thank you Richard...
I was actually researching King guns (of which there seem to be many disciples) on the forum and was pleased to see that some lettered as shipping to King and others came directly from S&W. I'm filling out the form as we speak.
Best,
Jason
