Default S&W Victory Model, would appreciate info on it's history and value

I really appreciate the time and service for this. First of all, the revolver is in EX overall condition with a gleaming barrel. It's a 5 screw, overall of parkerized finish. The serial number on the butt is V 278737 with the V separated by the lanyard ring. Inspectors initials are GHD.

On top of the frame it's marked United States Property. On the frame behind the yoke it has a tiny (1/32" tall) squared font 'R', and the assembly numbers match. Left side of the barrel is marked Smith & Wesson, top of barrel bears patent dates. The right side shows 38 S&W CTG. The barrel is 5" long.

All serial numbers on various parts match. The grips are smooth walnut, with only the right hand one having a couple of small narrow compressions. No missing wood, and are both smooth.

On the right front bottom of the frame are the following markings from top to bottom:

D (arrow) D
MADE IN USA
FTR MA (diagonal slash) 54
Then M (or crown) over 30, over 1. Then an arrow to the right of those 3 stacked figures.

Other then the mentioned nicks on the bottom of one grip, and a tiny wear spot on the side of the yoke where it rotates into the frame the revolver appears new. Any info and a possible valuation would be very much appreciated.

Rick
