Pre-War .32 Regulation Police
I am trying to do some research on a gun I picked up. I was told that the box is original by the seller, but was told by someone the box is post war, so it cannot be original.
- The serial number is 424xxx
- On the left side of the barrel it says Smith & Wesson
- On the right side of the barrel it says 32 Long CTG
- On the inside of the grip it has the serial number of the gun written in what looks to be pencil
Any help with information is appreciated.

Box looks correct to me. Definitely not post-war.
Does the box have anything written on the bottom?

Nothing on the bottom, but this picture shows what is inside of the lid.

Boxes with corner staples were much later than your revolver and that style two piece box was available from 1946 to 1975. You do, however, have a fine looking 32 Regulation Police that would have shipped from the factory around 1925.

Being a gun from 1925, are you able to estimate value?

Value is all about condition, and I do see some spots of rust in your pictures. Difficult to give an accurate number without the gun in hand, plus the rust visible may disappear when some judicious cleaning is done.
The Regulation Police seems to get a slight bounce in value over the standard 32 Hand Ejectors and I would only make a guess at a value of $300 to $400 range.

The gun alone is $300-$425 in an online auction. The box is $125-165 on eBay.
