Default Weapons used to protect The White House

I have 2 uncles and a great uncle that served at The White House (Washington DC) from the 1930's until about 1975. Two were uniformed guards.

Maybe, just maybe, if I could find one, I might be interested in adding a former White House revolver to my collection. But I see that there are many towns & cities named White House. A revolver marked WHPD could be from White House TN, OH, TX, etc.

Can anyone tell me what weapons were issued to the men guarding The White House, and how they were marked?

Thanks,
--Joe.
