Identify This S&W Bicycle Revolver (Old Advertisment)
Is it a top break?
Lemon squeezer?

As I recall, the factory short barreled revolvers were all of the DAO (New Departure) type. Not sure I have seen a Double Action of the same era with an extra short barrel.
This may be the first published illustration of "don't bring a club to a gun fight" .

By the apish grin on his face, it doesn't look like he is getting the message. Time to fire away(?)
For the record, this is from McClure's Magazine, July 1897. (I saw it on another forum and thought some here would like to see it.)

My guess is a Safety Hammerless. There is no such thing in Smith & Wesson known as a "lemon squeezer".
