I Keep Moving These Stags
I like these Sambar Stag grips so much, I've probably had them on five different Smiths. Here they are on a Pre M10 Snub and on a first year M10-6. Thinking they are now on a nickel M10. They came on my car gun, and they have a tendency to move around a lot.

I have the same problem but eventually come up with a final resting place for those I have. And not on hard recoiling models.
Those need a little TLC with leather dye to bring back the dried velvet.blood look and a new polishing. Very simple to restore them and it makes a big improvement,

I never thought about that. . .leather dye. . .I'm guessing brown. I'm going to do that as soon as I find them. They may be on a M19 now.

Those stags sure look pretty.
Whenever I see a classic revolver with them I get some 50 years younger.

Hey, Doc! Quit moving them around. Buy some companions to put on your other guns. Grashorn and Driskill need $$.

And here I thought I was the only one that did this!
I've had these stags for more years than I can remember. They were very old when I got them. They've been on many guns over the years, including a couple of N frames. I just couldn't decide on a final resting place. I figured what better gun than the one that started all this madness several years ago. 1947 vintage .38 M&P, which I believe was a former LEO gun. Anyway, here they are, for now.....

Maybe I can luck up on another pair and have two to move around. I have lucked up on diamond magnas, diamond targets, stags, and MOP. . .all on cheap Smiths. I have never had to good fortune to stumble upon a pair of ivories. Still waiting on those.

Stag Grips
I like to think I collect shooter grade S&W revolvers, but the truth "Will Out" as the bard wrote. I really collect grips. My stash of stag, gold medallion, and large silver medallion grips almost surpasses my Smith collection. And yes! the grips rotate around the shooter collection of guns. I also confess that I often buy guns for the grips and did buy a really junky looking N frame for the gold medallion ivories worth a lot more than the asking price of the gun. In fact, the gun turned out to be a rather rare pre-war nickel plated 38-44. And that is why we are collectors.!!!

I like them especially on the snub. I do the same thing with stags I've had for thirty years for Colt single actions, but they are on guns for keeps now. I have two pairs of twenty five year old S&W N Frame sambar stag grips that reside in my gun grip box waiting for guns to wear them.
