Default Help identifying

Dear all,

please, could you help me to identify this hand ejector model. There is no caliber mark on it.
Number behind the yoke : it's not clear, either 8 8 5 4 or B B 5 4
Serial number on the butt : 25835
Same number on the inside of the cylinder with a cross/flag, the same cross/flag on the left side of the gun (between the cylinder and the barrel)
Barrel lenght : 6,5"
Fixed sight
There is a strain screw in the front of gripstrap
There are 5 screw

I guess it is a 455 caliber model, could you confirm me it.

Thanks you in advance.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Would you post a picture showing the cylinder charge holes? We need to see where the shoulder is located toward the forward end of the cylinder. This will tell us what caliber it chambers.

Otherwise, I believe your guess of .455 Webley MKII is accurate. It is most likely a .455 Double Action British Service Revolver, 2nd Model. Forum member Hondo44 is doing research on how prevalent it was that the caliber stamp was omitted during the period of manufacture.

25835 could well be a .455 Mk II HE 2nd Model. SN range was 5462 to 74755, shipped 1915-17. It is not too unusual to find these which were later converted to .45 Colt. A close-up picture of the rear face of the cylinder would confirm or deny this. It definitely was not converted to .45 ACP.

I see nothing to indicate the cylinder has been modified for a different cartridge. So, it should chamber and shoot .455 Webley MKI and MKII.
