Pristine Model 29 no dash #S198474 6.5" blue
You know the old saying – “True beauty comes from within” – Well I’m a believer! There is an old glass case that sits in the corner of my favorite shop and it is filled to the brim with “inner beauty” - Lugers, Colts and S&W from every era. The problem, two little signs that can quash a man’s hopes in an instant – NFS (not for sale).
If I’ve asked once, I’ve asked a hundred times over the past 25 years – What’s in that S&W presentation case at the very bottom underneath all those Lugers? When the lid opened I thought for sure it was a Model 25 or Pre-25, which would have been a dream come true, but it was not. It was a Model 29 and EXC+ to boot. That was 2 years ago and just as everything else in the case, it wasn’t for sale. Undeterred, and for the most part rhetorically, I still ask every time. Yesterday the answer was a bit different…. I don’t usually buy 29’s, but I just couldn’t walk away from this perfect specimen.

Cool gun. What made the dealer change their mind about selling it?

I doubt I could have walked away, either.

I think he likes the fact that I’m passionate about collecting S&W, or maybe it was just dumb luck, either way, I’m smiling.

Glad your persistence paid off! Fantastic gun.
If I had been in the same situation my luck would have been different. After asking for years and years if any of the guns were for sale, the dealer would change his mind one day out of the blue. But with my luck, I would walk in the store as a guy was hauling many guns out the door. This guy would have happened to stop by the shop for the first time ever that day and asked about the guns in the case for the first time. The dealer would explain that he was asking at the perfect time since he had just decided to sell them. The "new" guy would buy ALL the guns and would be carrying them out the door as I walk in.
I am glad your luck is better than mine!!
