Outdoorsman Value ??
Saw a nice Transitional Outdoorsman in my travels today. S147xxx. I usual handling marks with slight amount of muzzle wear. Only thing wrong was that the trigger had been changed out for some reason. It is a smooth, rounded and polished trigger. No box or Docs with it. asking is $1199 but I can get it for $1050. I just got the new Blue Book but do not have the 4th addition yet to see what that says for pricing. Both books are generally on the conservative side on pricing.

Sounds about right, I recently traded a nearly pristine nickel 27-2 for a similar Outdoorsman... the Outdoorsman is very accurate, and of course loaded with that special "Aura" of all pre 80's Smith and Wesson revolvers,, mine is a little later than your's and came with target trigger, hammer, and stocks....

Isn't that kind of a late serial number for a transitional Outdoorsman?

I was wondering the same thing, what makes it a "Transitional" gun? Just trying to learn here as I thought the Transitional guns were between 1945 and 1950 or so. Wouldn't sn S147XXX be 1955 or so and well after the end of the use of transitional features? Not trying to nitpick, just curious. Thanks.

Marshall, if you get this one and don't like the trigger, I'll swap you a narrow serrated (.265") one for your smooth one. Would like to see pictures of it.
