So I picked up a Kay-Chuk
On a recent business trip I had a chance to check out a local gun shop and stumbled on a Kay-Chuk. Never seeing one before, I bought it! She just made it home, kind of interesting, started out as a M48 four screw. It is a Bennett made gun.
I dont have ammo but I'll make some up as time allows. Can wait to try it out!

Might one of you educate us less knowledgable folks about what this represents?
Thanks.

Nice gun!! Looking forward to a range report. I've fired a jet before, but not a K-Chuk- wear your ear plugs!

I forget, Is that a short improved 22 Hornet or a short improved 218 Bee?
Either way, I'd be all over that, like a chicken on a June bug!

It’s a shortened hornet in .224, isn’t it?

Shorten a 22 hornet case and fire form it to straighten out the taper, so that it has a regular type shoulder. Zippy little reloadable 22. I built mine. Was going to find a reamer, but a member here sold me a cylinder that wway alreay done, A model 10 milled for adjustable sights and a K22 barrel and I was in business. So far I have just neck sized my brass after fire forming.

Be aware that there were two versions- the first, or "blown out" version, and the second, which was a slightly shortened standard Hornet case.
Been discussed several times here over the years,do a search for those posts.

Mr Steelslaver did it the way I would have... the additional step of converting a rimfire Model 48 action to center fire is an extra step (and expense) I would rather avoid. Wheelgun28 was extremely fortunate to find the finished product available and not have to go through the trials and tribulations of doing the conversion or paying to have it done. I'm not sure the 22 Kay-Chuck can do anything that a 327 Fed Mag can't do, but it is a fascinating cartridge to consider... one of the classics from the halcyon days of handgun wildcatting. Congrats to you Mr Wheelgunn28.

I started playing around with this when 22 ammo was tight. Even reamed a cylinder for it to shoot 22TCM, but never got around to getting clips for it and cutting the rear of the cylinder for the clips.
I got way to many projects. My 325 conversion to 45 colt is next to get done.

Made on a M48, hence .224" bullets instead of .222" or .223" then?

I have been reading some of the older posts.
This one is marked "std" some I think that means it uses a standard hornet case just shortened by .050. It also supposed to use a round nose projectile, they are harder to find.
I am scrounging some Hornet brass and maybe a mold to cast some heads... We will see how things progress. I am not in a rush I cant fire this in my local range unless I down load it to around 1000fps.
I am glad to see some interest in these, I bought it on a whim. I know it was uncommon as I never saw one outside the forum before.
The conversion to center fire is interesting, still has the rim fire hammer. The firing pin just seems to be moved and Id guess bigger. Having the rim fire hammer and frame mounted pin it looks like a much never design aka the lock.
I have a M53 and a M647 so this seems like it will fit in with the group
Now I almost want a M48...

It would probably be helpful for curious folks to "search" here for posts and threads concerning the Kay-Chuk vs the Jet.
There's lots of hypothetical and actual pros/cons, and no small amount of heated conjecture.
Makes for good reading.
I don't recall ever seeing an objective A-B comparison, with Ransom Rest tests and chronograph results.
