Default Victory question

Did Victory have a screw driver issued with it? I found what I
think is Victory cleaning rod and in box with it was a small
Skelton type screw driver. Formed out of one piece and handle
a loop like the old sewing machine screw driver. Did S&W ever
make such a tool?

Sounds like your basic cleaning rod with a key for the lock on newer Smiths.

No, a basic cleaning rod for S&W is Alumilum with threads to
accept brushes and jags. Victory is steel with a slotted end.
The screw driver in question has nothing to do with a key lock
for a new Smith.

I’ve never seen a “new in the box” Victory, but I am not aware of a specific screwdriver being issued with it. I think the twisted wire brush may have been with the gun, but even the standard cleaning rod was delivered separately (in boxes of 10, I believe).

I would doubt that victories had a screw driver issued. As you may be aware screw drivers or what some will term sat - sight adjustment tool- were included only on S&W revolvers equipped with adjustable sights

Don't think so. Issuing a tool with a military small arm is an invitation to disaster.

I've never seen a boxed victory either. It may just be a fluke that
this screw driver is perfect size for screws on S&W. Maybe a
previous owner who did have a victory just kept the stuff for it
together and origins of screw driver has nothing to do with S&W.
