.44 and .38-44 Thank You, John Culina
Thanks to John Culina two long term projects are finally done.
The first is the .38-44 "ersatz McGivern" that is back from the dead.
The rebuild of it is discussed here.
Somewhat Homemade McGivern Target
The second is one I have not posted before. It's a .44 Special Third Model. Shipped to Wolf and Klar.
Externally it was good when I got it. It had some "internal issues" that required sorting.
The grips are tung oil finished. I wanted "working grips", and they are great. Most of all - they are the RIGHT length.

Great Guns!
Its really great to see these old "war horses" return to duty. As you know my passion is to bring back these old works of art to full design capability, not new, but doing what they were designed to do. Great Save! I fully appreciate the work, the hours and the hunt for parts that went into these projects. Ya did good! I particularly like the blue finish.

I'm a great fan of John's work. Got two more sets of walnuts on the way for my K-frames. I recently got an unfinished set of Ns for my 38/44 and also finished them in tung oil. Nice finish for a working revolver. The only thing I have against John is that he moved to Oregon. It was nice when he was just a few miles away in Rocklin, CA and I could also shoot the bull with him. By the way, I purchased my 38/44 from him just before he left.
Those are two nice revolvers you have and the grips really finish them off right.

Also a fan of John's work, you've done a great job on the 38/44.
