Default Finally Completed My Middle America Police Oddball Set (New Pic Post 6)

Over the years, I acquired a 1952 Missouri State Patrol 5" tapered barrel and a 1957 Kansas City PD 4" heavy barrel .38 Masterpiece. I finally found (almost) the missing part of the collection. I just picked up a 1958 5" heavy barrel. Ordered by the Illinois State Police, this one is apparently an overrun non law enforcement sale. Close enough for me. Interesting that the three special configurations came from neighboring states.

Very nice and very interesting! Thanks for posting. I would love to find one of those Kansas City PD 4” .38 Masterpieces to go with my KCPD Pre-War .357 Magnum.

Actually, in relooking at your picture, I think I see a 4” Pre-Model or Model 19 .357 Magnum rather than a .38 Masterpiece.

This one was on the road across the river from KCMO on the Kansas Highway Patrol starting in 1954.

Very nice stocks on the Missouri gun. I doubt they are original, but they look good!

Here's my MSHP 5". It is wearing period correct Magna stocks. When I got it from the son of the Trooper who carried it, it had later Magna stocks that had been put on it by the MSHP armorer (second photo).

Terry,

I realize that my Masterpiece is the more modern and therefor more desirable revolver. And, among enlightened law enforcement practitioners, magnum is a dirty word. However, being the nice guy that I am, I will trade if you ask nicely.

The 5" ISP heavy barrel's do shoot well, and probably are the best balanced K Frame I own. Yes, that 1 o'clock ooop's was all me.
