I have a 5 screw N frame Smith with a 3.5 in barrel. It is in a Gold box with screwdriver bore mop and cleaning rod. it also has a registion card. it has a number inside the frame 64729 but doesn't say RTEG. the serial number is S139884. I think it is a REG mag but don't know for sure. Can you fellows help ID it?

Welcome to the forum,
I believe by that serial # it would be classified as a Pre Model 27. A gun worth having and depending on condition will fetch a pretty nice price.
Pictures please

jamescallihan,
You have a very neat gun, technically a ".357 Magnum", a gun that - after 1957 would be a M27, so some folks call these guns "Pre-M27's". Your gun, with the "S" serial number is a post war production gun, a true Registered Magnum was a pre-war production model, a predecessor to your gun.
Enjoy your gun, sounds like a very nice package with the gold box and all.

If somebody really did leave a registration card for a pre-war Registered Magnum in the box for your post-war 357 Magnum a collector would pay a lot of money for it. They try to have all the accessories with their guns and those cards are very rare to find.
Does the card actually look like a registration card for the RM (they were fancy, like diplomas) or is just the warranty card for the gun you have?

JC, Welcome to the Forum. I'd bet that the "registration" card is just the usual warranty card included with the guns in that post war time period, where you could send back the card with your name, etc as the purchaser and be 'registered" for warranty purposes.

This is a registration card for a pre-war .357 Magnum revolver.
