I've been picking up a few Post War Pre Model 32 S&W's here and there. I'm sure I'm overlooking something, but by reading the descriptions in the SW Catalog, I can't find any noticeable difference except for the barrel stampings with one having 32 S&W CTG and the other 32 Long Colt. What am I missing?

Jim (Hondo44) will be along shortly...

But the postwar .32 Hand Ejector was generally a round butt with shorter barrels, and the .32 Regulation Police a square butt with longer barrels. By this era they were both stamped .32 S & W Long or .32 Long CTG on the right barrel. S & W would not voluntarily put the name of their largest competitor on their guns.

The Model 30 and its pre version and the Model 31 and its pre version are chambered for .32 S&W Long. S&W has not made a revolver chambered for .32 S&W specifically since the .32 Double Action and Safety Hammerless top breaks were discontinued. However, you can shoot .32 S&W in a .32 Long revolver.
