I found a really nice pre war outdoorsman (adjustable sights, 6.5" barrel) at a local gunshop. It is in high 90s % condition, but has the wrong grips (1970s vintage goncalo alves targets). Price is $1295. I know this is little to go on, but is that price decent, low, high, or what? Thanks for your input.

Ken,
If it is really in the High 90's percentage of original finish, I would buy it even with the wrong grips. the correct grips could cost you as much as $500. Tell me where it is and I will go check it out for you

Ken,
Dan is right on.
Make sure, however, that 'like new' finish is original.
There have been some incredible refinishes as the values have escalated.

Paid 900.00 for one abt 90% or a little less last Nov. That could be a good buy, seen them sell over 2000.00 w box. Larry

Ken, I think that is a low to reasonable price for the gun you describe, assuming it is the original finish. I paid just under $1500 for what I consider a 95% Pre-War OD late last year. Mine came with a letter and a repro grip adaptor, so that pushed the price up a few bucks. I think the one you mentioned is worth buying.
