Default Chief special

Picked up this pretty average Chief Special. 21xx I think should put it around 1950. Unfortunately someone tried to beat something or someone into submission with the trigger guard.

I gotta find one like this. Looks like it has seen some serious use. Something to be said about a S&W J-frame that has seen a lot of action.

Neat Chiefs Special. Thanks for sharing it.

By the time it was produced and shipped the ship date is more likely 1952.

The only 1950-shipped Chiefs had one or two-digit serial numbers, X54
(experimental # 54) was the highest.

Known 1951-shipped Chiefs ran through s/n 1840.

Very nice score. I buy a lot more used guns than new guns. They have a lot more character.
