Default Smith and Wesson dealer price list

I recently purchase a 1956 .357 Magnum (pre model 27). The gun came with the original box. Under the wax paper was a brochure titled " Dealer's Prices" (see attached). Just wondering if this is rare or if there is any value to this brochure. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on acquiring a '56 .357 Magnum (in 1957-58 it would become the Model 27). We always appreciate pictures so if you can manage to attach some that would be great. What's the s/n and barrel length of your .357 Magnum? The original box is a plus, but did you get the tools with it? Wouldn't you love to have had the selection of those S&W revolvers at those prices? Of course, in 1956 $30-$36 dollars was still quite a bit of money...equal to $340-$400 today. Still would be a great deal and I'd snatch up all that I could afford! I can't help you with pricing your brouchure, but I'm sure that there are plenty of Forum members that will be along to provide some opinions. Here's my 6-1/2" revolver from 1955 (S140334)...it was my very first S&W .357 Magnum and it kicked off my addiction! Yes, I guarantee that you will be adding more to your collection. Enjoy!

Default Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum pre model 27

Thank you Hawg Rider. I have a few pre 27's and model 27's. The picture attached is the one I recently purchased with the paperwork I mentioned previously. The gun is a 8 3/8" BBL in the nickel finish with the original box. There is a black SAT screwdriver that came with the gun butSmith 27 nickel 1956.jpg no additional cleaning tools. The serial number is S 162XXX.

Very nice - congrats. As far as the dealer price brochure, I'll take one of each model, please.

Is there a date on the dealer price list? I thought the Safety Hammerless models were stopped around the beginning on WW2. What would become the Model 14 is instead labeled a M&P target. There's no 1950 Target Model. Etc... I'd guess the price list is from the 30's.

Definitely a late 1930s flyer, only ribbed revolver shown is the 357, also missing all K frame Masterpiece revolvers and others that would have been produced right after WWII ended. Looks like they are showing mostly silver medallion service stocks, with only a couple of early Magna guns.

I find that there is little dollar value for these papers. Early catalogs are more collectible, but except for a few rare years, most are $50 or less, so papers are worth considerably less.

These price lists are called All Model Circulars. The pe-WW2 circulars say Dealers Prices on the first page. The post-WW2 circulars say Retail Prices.

All great information. I find it interesting that this "Dealer's Prices" sheet was found in a box from the 1950's. Thanks everyone for your input.
