Default Grouping...

Like others here, I'm starting to gather enough Models of 1950 .44 Targets, that I can start grouping them...I already had three 4" versions, but only two 6.5"...Yesterday the opportunity arose to change that number to three, so I did...I paid a little more than I wanted, but the coke stocks on it (although from a later date) made the value an OK one...S98520 puts it into the 1953-54 year range, and I'll have to get around to lettering it after Don catches up with the latest load I've given him...

I have some grips that will be more age-appropriate, so that will be corrected after cleanup...In talking to the seller, I found that he sourced the gun some time ago from someone I already knew, although he is now deceased...The pics are just in the condition received, and all comments are appreciated...

Now that the 4" and 6.5" numbers are even, I can concentrate on adding a couple of 3.5 inchers to the one I have, plus I'll have to start looking for some 5" guns...The 4.5" and 5.5" will be a real problem though......Ben

The 6.5" 1950's are where I'm falling behind. I only have 2 and one of them is a donor to replace the cylinder in a 4" gun with a bulged chamber.

I'll eventually even it out. The grandkids need to have appropriate pairs....

Turns out I remembered a pair of unrelieved targets I had put away in my accumulation...They had already received the Curt Harlow touch, and are much more age appropriate than the cokes...The cokes, following their eviction notice, immediately found a new home on a 1957 .44 Magnum which also resides comfortably in my safe...Balance has now been achieved in the 6.5" department......Ben

The non-relieved target stocks will be a good match for that fine handgun. My 6 1/2" 44 Target model of 1950 is one of my favorites. The letter says walnut stocks with silver medallions which I read as magnas, however, it now wears NR target. It was shipped April 20, 1954 to Honolulu Sporting Goods.

Here it is wearing the magnas it came with.

44 HE, 4th Model Target

It missed my 6th birthday by one day.

I thought I'd offer a few glamour shots since it's fresh out of Dunkin Gunwash and wearing its brand new shoes...Then it's off to be bedded down with its brethren in the safe......Ben
