Default Help identifying - pre model 14 / 15 38 spl with US stamp?

Hey yall,

I did a little bit of research on this one and I believe it is a pre model 14 (15?) and I believe the US stamp denotes it was the gun issued to a group of Army Marksmen is the later ww2 years. Any help appreciated!

I tried to magnify the picture of the rear of the cylinder and it appears to me that the serial number is K271xxx. This would place it as a 1956 manufacture.

IF I read the number correctly. Can you confirm the number on the butt of the grip?

Nice revolver! It is a pre-model 14. Does the grip number match the frame? I ask because my US pre-model 14 (K237752) has matching number magna style grips. It would be interesting if that one shipped with the target grips. Mine was shipped July 30, 1956 to Raritan Arsenal. These were US Army contracted, but some ended up with the USAF at some point. It is a great collectors piece, and it looks in nice shape! Enjoy.

It appears to be correct for a US military contract K-38 Masterpiece. Member Kevin (kwill1911) should be along with more information soon.

Ok awesome, I just had the date range a little wrong it looks like haha - I didn't realize the K on the bottom of the cylinder (in my pic) was a prefix to the other 6 numbers, thanks for all of the information!!

@seaburry pretty cool that you have one so close in serial to mine, I'd assume mine went to the same place
