Model numbers were designated in May of 1957. But they didn’t show up stamped on guns until mid to late in 1958, especially the slower sellers.

The K-22 Masterpiece you asked about (assuming a 6" barrel) most likely shipped in 1958. K-22 K311533 shipped in January, 1958, and I show some in that same range that also shipped in early 1958, including a K-38 at K304692 that shipped in February, 1958.

The lowest known number on a K-22 Masterpiece marked as a Model 17 was K326533 and it shipped in November, 1958.

The 4 screw frames have become somewhat of an obsession with me as they span the non-model marked guns through the model numbered guns. There is a lot of information on these, right here on the forum.
