Will a number 2 T grip fit a baby Chief Special?

Thanks.

#2 Tyler is for J frames prior to 1955. I have to admit I would have to look up what exactly a Baby Chief is.

"For Smith & Wesson "J" frame revolvers made before 1955. Chief, Terrier, etc. Also for EIG E9, INA, Tiger, Llama X111, some late model Charter Arms, with standard grips".

Thanks. I know what Tyler says. The baby Chief is not strictly a J frame, although it is a pre 1955 revolver. The short explanation is it is essentially a stretched Terrier frame window to accomodate a 38 Special cylinder, but retaining the small Terrier size grip frame.
Tyler goes on to say the number 2 will fit a Terrier, so I think it will fit. I need clarification before I buy one.

I thought the Terrier was built on an I-frame?

Yes.

The Tyler number 1 is for Chiefs made after 1953 (Airweight)/1954 (carbon steel) with the longer grip frame and 4-screw frame.

The Tyler number 2 is for the early carbon steel Chiefs with a 5-screw frame.

The number 2 will work for my Chiefs Special 389XX, 5 screw, serrated ramp front sight, last pattern flat latch. The gun is shooter grade.

Thanks for comfirming my thoughts.

Mike
