I’m on a roll! 2nd Model 44 Hand Ejector 5”
The Dixie Gun & Knife Show at the North Carolina Fairground never disappoints. We like going on Sundays because you can take your time and really look. When I found this sitting on a table I was shocked honestly, in all my years of gun shows I've never seen a 5" .44 special and I got it for a great price.
This gun is all original except the stocks, it has this wonderful brown patina. The gun will be completely disassembled and cleaned. I'm on the lookout for N frame service stocks, gold medallion or all wood.

I like the way all the fitters put their mark in a little circle around the grip pin.

Hello George, great snag on a used and carried ole girl. The side plate seam appears to be pristine. A good ole loved 44. Congrats.

Very nice, love those that show a little use. Here's mine, looks like it might have travelled some of the same roads as yours.

Guess I'll have to show off mine again. The scratched-up one is from 1930, the bottom one is from 1927.
BTW: the letter for the bottom gun says it originally came with "checkered silver medallion square butt grips". I think the gold medallion grips on mine originally came on a triple-lock. I'm into trading gold for silver.

I really should letter mine. It’s in “loved” but not abused condition too. Stocks are not original, they’re numbered to another gun. And the front it was wearing when it came to me was a very cool King blade with a white insert, unfortunately it was way too low and the gun shot 16” high at 25 yards so I made a replacement on my lunch break on day.

So much better with the correct grips. They do not number, but they're what it would've left the factory with. Thank you Kris Howell!!!

Nice find! I really enjoy the two 2nd Model HE's that I have. They are a lot of fun at the range!
The blued gun shipped 9/9/1925 to Union Hardware, Los Angeles California and the nickel gun shipped 12/13/1926 to the Frank Budge Co. Miami Florida. I got a set of 1917 grips to replace the ivory grips for shooting. Both guns shipped with non medallion checkered grips.

Tired Iron Revisited
A number of years ago I visited the Jackson, MS Gun Show and spied this old shooter on a table. She was well used but functional, I was looking for a project and for the princely sum of $200, she went home with me. I was planning to re-blue it but after all her mechanical work was done and she turned out to be a great shooter, I thought better. She earned her battle scars. Just an old timer, the grips are smooth with wear, she was carried daily and must have been a jailer's gun. She was shipped to St. Louis in the same configuration as seen, although the grips have no visible number on them. I guess its time to dig her out of the safe and visit the range. I love gold nuggets lake this one. Great thread and you have a nice find. You can not stop with only two!

If ever a gun was “handsome,” I’d say this is it!
Also, many examples here that “I wish could talk.”

Thanks, Bill.
It's about $1500 worth of accessories on a $350 gun.
